New retail planned for Near West Side

The Near West Side Community Development Corporation announced a new plan for continued revitalization of retail space in the neighborhood.

The Near West Side has undergone a complete transformation in recent years, as abandoned warehouses and other buildings have been given new life. Luxury condominium and loft developments bring many new residents to the neighborhood every year.

The plan calls for the revitalization to the West Haven section of the Near West Side, a neighborhood that has seen heavy development in recent years. However, many necessary amenities, such as a grocery store, are still absent in the area.

During a meeting last money, many potential investors in the area addressed concerns such as a lack of parking and the general rundown condition of the neighborhood.

Plans call for the clean up of many of the neighborhood’s streets and vacant lots, a move officials hope will attract further investment in the neighborhood.

Prices for Chicago Real Estate around the Near West Side have almost doubled in the past five years, according to the most recent report from the Chicago Association of Realtors. Young professionals and families are attracted to the neighborhood due to its proximity to downtown Chicago.
